Oneness – “We are all saying the same thing” – One Love

“We are all saying the same thing” Louise Hay declared in her opening address at the I CAN DO IT conference in Toronto.  She was introducing the line-up of luminaries who would be addressing us throughout the day, and reminding us that all of them are saying the same, basic thing.  Speaker after speaker reminded us of the fundamental truth – we are all One, or as Bob Marley, the Jamaican prophet said “One Love”.  For this power in, of and that is the universe, is LOVE – pure, unadulterated, unconditional love.  It could only be love, for love is the creative power.  Nothing else creates other than love.  Everything else destroys.  We do observe and know that we live in a universe that is ever creating out of love.  And we are all a part of this one, universal love.

All the speakers at the conference were telling us, each in their unique voices and from their own perspective, this plain, simple truth.  And this is a truth that when we clear away the stuff of the human experience, we know instinctively and intrinsically.

Yet the practice of oneness – of being one with my neighbour upstairs who constantly pounds on the floor, of being one with the politician who betrays his constituents, of being one with the person who commits a crime – the practice is what is difficult.  When we find this difficulty, we need to remember that it only seems so because we have forgotten our oneness.  Once we come back to oneness, once we come back to love, then we can see that the neighbour, the politician and the criminal are ourselves – our Selves.  They, just like us, were born of love and are love.

Today, look at each person you meet with the eyes of love, remembering that you are looking at yourself – your Self

“One Love

One heart

Let’s get together and feel alright”
