What in the world is a “recessionista”?
Definition:
Someone who views the glass as half full – even when it’s a smaller glass; a person who is embracing the recession, holding to the principles that life is for living – regardless!
Behaviours:
1. Laughs – a lot! Not at anything, but just to laugh
2. Doesn’t read the newspapers nor watch the news
3. Sees “downsizing” the lifestyle as an adventure
4. Won’t give up her regular mani/pedi – some things are sacrosanct – but goes fortnightly rather than weekly
5. Reads magazines online rather than buy
6. Grows her own vegetables – or is trying to
7. Recycles her clothes and is into mending (maybe even darning?)
8. Is into potlucks – it’s OK to invite people to your house and don’t provide all the food
9. Likes the Zen feel of not buying “stuff”
10. Thinks window shopping is great!
11. Does an upper body rather than a full body massage
12. Gets just as much pleasure salivating over shoes online as she used to get buying them
13. Thinks “FREE” is a wonderful word!
14. Swaps clothes with friends to create a new wardrobe – nothing wrong with “previously-worn”
15. Now understands why she loves yoga so much – exhaling deeply is SO important
16. Loves when the cashier offers her the senior citizen discount
17. Knows that whatever happens – this too shall pass!
18. Recession? What recession?
19. Has finally learned to graciously say “Yes” when someone offers to buy something for her
20. Knows that the only thing that really matters, the only reality, is love
Hey Muse,
As a True Recessionista, here are some of my characteristics..
18. Recess just stops there,no ressession! Recess is taking a break out of life…thats te closest we can come to the illusion.
3. Never Downsize sounds so negative. So one always rightsize to make it look glam!
8.Always let your guest feel apart of any event..ask them to bring something, food drink, your favourite bottle of wine?
Also hold a candle light dinner..creates ambiance and saves on evergy.. your contribution to being eco-friendly. Eat Indian and Arfican style that is, one serving platter, everyone eating out of the same thing, all at eye level, (saves on cleaning furniture) use cushions and mats. This makes you saves on cleaning cost, and cleaning up time.
and my addition… Ever been to a store knowing you are single and they say disount for couples? You suddenly become hitched? MALE or FEMALE!
