“What are you going to do different this year” – continued ……

I received some great responses to my blog – among them one from Sarita Rowe, a friend and fellow free-and-laughing  soul who is committed to helping people achieve total wellness – check her out at: http://www.puravidawellnesstnt.com/

 

I thought I would share her list of things that you can do differently in the area of health and wellness.  It’s a great list, and you will notice that my chosen task (not eating after 8.00 p.m. which is going very, very well thank you) is on the list.  Read through Sarita’s suggestions carefully.  You, like me, might be tempted to say “But I want to do all” – resist that temptation and choose one that resonates with you the most – whether it’s the easiest, most impactful, most urgent, whatever- just CHOOSE and then JUST DO IT!

 

 

Sarita’s List:

  1. Keep your water intake up…75% of your body weight daily.
  2. Exercisers – be sure you are fueling your body with right foods to endure the workouts (healthy snacks through day, frequent balanced/well combined meals, portion control).
  3. Don’t eat past 8pm (you mess with the body’s natural Circadian Rhythm when you do).
  4. Fruit on an empty stomach ONLY.
  5. Rest rest rest! Sleep is crucial to regenerating cells and weight loss. Sleep in a VERY dark room to get best/ deep sleep.
  6. De-stress! Find a way to minimize / eliminate your stressors. This is a terrible culprit of weight gain, particularly in the belly fat!
  7. NO – excess sugar or dairy, processed food (whites), MSG, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogentated oil, soda (if you can’t pronounce the ingredients in it, leave it on the shelf!).
  8. MORE – whole foods: fruits, vegetables, nuts, natural grains, complex carbs (ex: sweet potatoe / provisions).
  9. Stretch before bed and on rising.
  10. Meditate and clear your mind often – get some ‘me time’, especially my SUPER MOMS! J
  11. Remember your body / cells change over time, your care for it should evolve also…don’t neglect it!
  12. GET ACTIVE – hike, strength train, walk, swim, run, bootcamp with friends.
  13. Do not drink water with your meals. You will dilute your digestive juices / enzymes. Drink water 10-20 minutes before you eat.
  14. Find an ‘accountable buddy’ to help you stay on track with your health and balance lifestyle goals.

    Marguerite, and by extension, Sarita,

    Thanks for those reminders. I will certainly be paying attention to #3 and not eat after 8 pm. I have a habit of having tea and cookies well into the night.
