TGIM – Thank God It’s Monday!

We all know what TGIF stands for – “Thank God It’s Friday”.  This typically signifies the end of our work week, and our temporary respite from jobjail.  Born of a view of work as drudgery, obligation, boredom, and all sorts of other negatives, TGIF is the signal to move our activities from “work” to “life”.

But what if our work was NOT viewed in this way?  What if our work was joy, love, passion, excitement, creativity, empowerment, laughter?  What if we were actually disappointed on Friday because it was the “end” of  our workweek?  What if instead of the Monday blues, we said, with joy and laughter “TGIM” – Thank God It’s Monday!

What would your TGIM work look like?  What would it feel like?  How different would it be different from what you are now experiencing?  Indeed, would you be working in the same profession?  Would you be in the same job, the same company?  Would the people you interact with be different people?  Or perhaps the same people behaving differently?

In all of these questions and your answers, note that the common denominator is YOU!  For your TGIM work to manifest, it is YOU who have to change.  Begin by getting yourself into the TGIM frame of mind – entertain that as a possibility – celebrate, laugh, dance, sing.  And then answer the above questions.  Now, are you brave enough to embrace this possibility and take action?

    Great Article Marguerite,
But what about those of us who are not doing what we like to do? what about those who have lost the passion for what they do?

Good question Donovan – find something to TGIM anyway! And then get up and change it. So give thanks for the boring job – it brings some benefits. Then make your plan for a different job. TGIM has NOTHING to do with the external – it’s all about the internal

Thanks Jeanette – now on to TGIT (Thank God It’s Tuesday)!
