4 Life Lessons from The Harmonica Man

“Andy Mackie is The Harmonica Man. Andy has survived 10 heart surgeries and numerous heart attacks but his love of music and teaching kids music keeps him going. Andy Mackie is sharing a remarkable gift and I\'m sure will be missed by many when his heart finally quits”

As I watched this video, I pondered Andy’s lessons – yes, he is teaching kids music and the joy of music.  He is giving them a skill and an avocation.  But he is teaching the world a lot more!

Here are 4 lessons I learned from Andy:

  1. The more you give, the more you get!  Andy has given so much to these kids, yet he is so grateful for how much he has received and keeps on receiving as his simple act mushrooms into cascades of music and joy!
  2. The healing power of music … and laughter!  The video interview starts with Andy laughing – and he laughs a lot!  I have no doubt that Andy’s healing was in no small measure fuelled by music and laughter
  3. Most importantly – one person CAN make a difference!  Andy started out just teaching a few kids how to play the harmonica – now everyone in his town is playing music – not just in the classroom, but by the lake, in the parks and in homes
  4. And finally, don’t let anyone, not even learned doctors tell you how long and how well you are going to live your life!  THAT is up to you to decide, no matter what their opinion may be!

What lessons have you learned from Andy Mackie?
